I had promised to post the results of yesterday's ePhilanthropy Awards Ceremony as soon as I returned from the awards, but the gigantic pile of work waiting for me when I returned from Los Angeles yesterday prevented me from making this post as quickly as I wanted to.
Either that, or jet lag. Take your pick!
Anyway, without further delay, here are the results:
While Modest Needs didn't win the award for which we were nominated this time around (the award actually went to Network for Good - an enormous donation portal), I'm very happy to report that Modest Needs was recognized as one of the top five organizations of its type IN THE WORLD.
This fact alone garnered Modest Needs a coveted 'Honorable Mention' at yesterday's ePhilanthropy Ceremony and is nothing short of a tremendous achievement, particularly since this was our first year even to be nominated for this award. I'm extremely proud of us, and I hope that you are as well.
As to the People's Choice Award: well, that award actually went to a fine organization called the African Well Fund - but you'll be happy to know that Modest Needs placed third - again, that's third IN THE WORLD - when it came to the 'People's Choice' award.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm very proud of us - all of us (that means YOU) - and I hope that you are too.
With that, I have to cut grant checks. I've been away for a week, and the grants that would normally go out on Tuesday will be going out today. I don't want the folks we're funding this week to have to wait any longer, so I have to get to it!
But, I'd love to hear your comments about the results of the ePhilanthropy Awards, either by posting here, or, if you'd rather write privately, by sending email to me.
Have a great day, everyone. I'll see you Monday with the first of the non-profit myths so many of you wanted to discuss. Until then, take care, be well, and let me hear from you soon.
