Mark was an Infantry Unit Officer in Iraq. He's 41 years old. And he's one of so many veterans who've returned home with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TMI).
Mark's accustomed to putting in 110%. But with a delay on his VA disability check, Mark and his family found themselves in a bind that even the most resourceful person couldn't overcome. Specifically, he and his wife were living in unsanitary conditions while trying to care for his newborn daughter. Furthermore, Mark was having a difficult time getting to the hospital for treatment of his multitude of health problems -- Hepatitis C, spinal injuries and tuberculosis all in addition to his brain injury. It took him DAYS to write out his Modest Needs application because his brain is so scattered.
Last week, I'm proud to say that you all stepped up to help this deserving family. And with the money you donated, they'll be moving into a new apartment right across the street from the VA hospital. Mark won't be sitting at home when he really needs medical treatment. He and his wife will be raising their daughter in a clean, safe environment.
