This month, we've seen a few strange requests come through Modest Needs. In particular, two that caught my attention were for a treadmill and a kiln (yes, a kiln!). As bizarre as they might sound, I can assure you that both requests truly are critical to the applicant's well-being.
Take the kiln. Now I never thought that Modest Needs donors would be donating money toward a kiln. But for this applicant, pottery is the way to make a living. And no kiln = no job.
Then there's the treadmill, which is a health imperative rather than a luxury. Did you know that doctors recommend regular exercise for MS patients as a way to fend off diabetes and keep muscles from deteriorating?
So while browsing applications, go ahead and let your curiosity get the best of you! Some of the most unusual application requests are also the most important.
