This single 52-year-old woman living alone in Cypress, Texas is unemployed. She lost her job in the recession, and was unable to find work since. Her unemployment benefits are all gone. In addition to her job, she lost her car and her home.
She's in a new place, but can't afford to get her belongings out of storage. She is sleeping on the floor. She suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis, and sleeping on the floor is, in her own words, 'killing me.' She has applied for disability but is still waiting on a reply from the government, which means she has nowhere to turn.
However, this woman has finally found a new job, which will allow her to get back on her feet. Back to independence. Back to self-sufficiency.
No one should have to sleep on the floor simply because they couldn't find a job, like almost 10% of the population. If you don't want to see unemployment keep this individual in pain, you can get her the bed she needs (as well as photos of her deceased parents), by making a contribution to Modest Needs and using the points to vote we fund her request.
