The Applicant of the Day is a single mom in rural Battle Creek, Michigan who cares for four children. Her 18-month-old son suffers from kidney disease that requires dialysis and a feeding machine--a terrible burden for someone who is just a baby.
Because this little boy must be kept cool to prevent his condition from worsening, there is a small window AC unit in his room. But without electricity, this cooling unit, the dialysis and the feeding machine are useless. And for this rural family, power outages are all too common.
This dedicated mother tells us, "When the power has gone out in the area, I have had to stay up all night doing 12 hours of dialysis and feedings...by hand. I am a single mom with four other kids to care for, so it is very difficult for me to spend the entire night doing this. We have well water here, so during those times when our electricity suddenly goes out, there is also no water in our home."
She has found a generator that can be used to insure that her baby boy doesn't suffer, or worse, when power outages occur. She just needs our help in acquiring it. 678 points is all it takes. If twenty people invest just $35 in this baby's future, we can have a check sent out for the generator immediately.
